Tonight in D/FW: Remembering Joel Jenista with ‘Ip Man’ at Texas Theatre

In memory of Joel Jenista, an ardent supporter of the North Texas film and music scene who lost his battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in the final week of 2010, a special event will be held tonight at the Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff.

The event, presented by the Asian Film Festival of Dallas, the Texas Theatre, Well Go USA, and Red Carpet Crash, is free to the public. All donations received will go to MDA-ALS Division (if bringing a check, please make it out to MDA-ALS Division).

The event begins at 7:00 p.m. On open forum will be available from 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for those who wish to share their memories of Joel. And then at 8:00 p.m., a screening of the dynamic, stirring, and moving ‘Ip Man,’ starring Donnie Yen, will begin, in honor of Joel, a huge fan of martial arts movies.
